Volume: 339 Pages: 853-865 Published: DEC 15 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.1016/j.amc.2018.06.059

Abstract:

In this article we study the Borel probability measures that can be associated to the time averaged observation of the process generated by the non-autonomous long-wave-short-wave resonance equations on infinite lattices, via the notion of generalized Banach limit. We establish that the generated process possesses a pullback-D attractor, and further prove that there exists a unique family of invariant Borel probability measures carried by the Invariant measures pullback attractor. COLD REGIONS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Volume: 155 Pages: 1-10 Published: NOV 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.1016/j.coldregions.2018.07.009

Abstract:

The crushed-rock interlayer (CRI) has been used to cool the railway embankment subbase and subgrade of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway (QTR) in permafrost regions. However, in addition to the climate change, aeolian sand clogging has been affecting this mitigation techniques aimed to increase heat extraction and reduce subsurface heat penetration by air convection through the voids of the CAI. Its long-term performance is evaluated herein using a numerical modelling. Simulation results demonstrate an unclogged CRI can mitigate permafrost warming for the first 20 years with a simulated increase in average air temperature by 0.052 degrees C a(-1). But after sand clogging, including both filling of voids in the CRI and covering of embankment slopes, its cooling performance is weakened. In such conditions, permafrost table is increasing and the permafrost is warming up under different mean annual air temperature (MAAT) of -4.5, -5.5, and -6.5 degrees C. The water content of the aeolian sand can also affect the cooling effectiveness of CAI. A 1 m-thick dry sand cover can induce an increase in ground temperature. But wet sand layer can mitigate and delay the effect of climate change on the permafrost degradation. The sand-control measures and additional engineering techniques should be adopted to prevent the long-term thermal stability of the QTR in sandy permafrost zone of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING

Volume: 81 Pages: 100-105 Published: OCT 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.1016/j.dsp.2018.06.008

Abstract:

The linear canonical transform (LCT) has been shown to be a useful and powerful tool in optics and signal processing. In this paper, a new uncertainty relation in the LCT domain has been obtained at first. It shows that nonzero signal's energy in two arbitrary LCT domains cannot be arbitrarily large simultaneously, which is the generalization of the uncertainty principle for signal concentrations in the Fourier domain. Meanwhile, the signals which are the best in achieving simultaneous concentration in two arbitrary LCT domains are also proposed. In addition, some potential applications are presented to show the effectiveness of the theorems. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

POLISH MARITIME RESEARCH

Volume: 25 Pages: 4-11 Published: AUG 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.2478/pomr-2018-0066

Abstract:

Currently, one of the challenging tasks for Chinese engineering community is to construct a water-way crossing of Qiongzhou Strait in the south of China. This project has also gained significant attention from researchers in academia. The study presented herein is centered on providing a feasible solution for ac-complishing the above mentioned task. Initially, different alternatives as the best location, judged on the basis of the environmental constraints, are studied. Then the comparison between various structural solutions such as suspension bridge, submarine tunnel and SFT is presented. Among these solutions, SFT appears to be a very suitable alternative for Qiongzhou Strait waterway crossing due to distinctive advantages, like shorter distance, lower cost, less impact on environment and navigation, etc. Based on the appropriate conception for cross sections, support systems, materials, joints and connection schemes, a numerical model is developed by means of the FEM software ANSYS/Fluent. It is then analyzed under the influence of different environmental loading conditions, varying the wave heights and lengths, current velocities and water depths, which are typical in Qiongzhou Strait. The numerical results reveal that the proposed SFT solution performs safely even under extreme weather conditions.

JOURNAL OF WIND ENGINEERING AND INDUSTRIAL AERODYNAMICS

Volume: 179 Pages: 26-38 Published: AUG 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.1016/j.jweia.2018.05.012

Abstract:

To address the common issues and deficiencies associated with state-of-art static and moving train wind tunnel test, this paper devised a novel test system for the aerodynamic test of vehicles travelling across the bridges. A servo motor synchronous driving system was used along with a wireless module for the transducer in measuring aerodynamic forces on the high-speed train. The maximum speed of the train model can reach 15 m/s with an effective acquisition time of 0.7s. Besides, due to the independent arrangement between the bridge model and the test motion driving system, replacement of the bridge model can be achieved, enhancing the adaptability of the system. Based on the developed test system, a scaled model (including a steel-truss bridge and the CRH3 train system) was tested and aerodynamic characteristics of the moving train were measured and analyzed under various wind velocities, speeds of the train, and wind angles. It reveals that aerodynamic coefficients of the train measured with a static train model are different from those measured with the dynamic train model. The existence of truss bridge causes that the aerodynamic coefficients of model train vary significantly as the incoming wind velocity, speed of the train, and wind angle change.

DESALINATION AND WATER TREATMENT

Volume: 111 Pages: 79-87 Published: APR 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.5004/dwt.2018.22029

Abstract:

Microcystis aeruginous were cultured to study on the algae organic matter (AOM) migration, transformation and potential to produce nitrogenous disinfection by-products (N-DBPs) during algae growth, dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) concentration shows an upward tendency. The migration of nitrogen in different inorganic ions were studied. Large molecular weight substances in EOM gradually transform into small molecules with the growth of algae, while the molecular weight distribution of IOM stay stable. EOM is mainly composed of humic acid-like materials and soluble microbial products, while IOM is mainly composed of aromatic proteins and soluble microbial products. The strongly hydrophobic organic matter (HPO) possesses the highest proportion. In IOM, but the hydrophilic fraction of IOM presents the highest N-DBPs formation potential. The hydrophilic organic matter (HPI) is the major content of EOM, but the HPO presents the highest N-DBPs formation potential.

Volume: 171 Pages: 862-868 Published: 2018 Language: English Document type: Article

DOI: 10.1016/j.ijleo.2018.06.104

Abstract:

As the offset linear canonical transform has became a novel and effective method in signal processing and optics, the sampling and reconstructing theorems for bandlimited signals associated with the OLCT have been widely researched in the literature. However, all these theorems are derived under the condition of noiseless. In this work, the reconstruction theorem of bandlimited signals by using its noisy samples associated with the OLCT has been well studied. We first show that the well-known reconstruction theorem for the OLCT bandlimited signals is invalid in the presence of random errors. Then, the oversampling theorem of the OLCT bandlimited signals is obtained based on the orthogonal complete set of the OLCT bandlimited signals. Subsequently, the reconstruction theorem for the OLCT bandlimited signals from samples in the presence of noise is derived by utilizing the oversampling theorem. Lastly, the simulations are provided to indicate the advantages and correctness of the derived results.
